Introduced in the summer of 2019, the Sloth Encounter allowed guests to get up-close to the fan-favorite animal.
History
The Sloth Encounter was introduced in June 2019 and offered guests a chance to get up close with several species of sloths at Animal Connections, including the chance to touch and interact with one. Pricing for the tour started at $59.99 per person with pass member discounts available. Like most animal experiences, guests were asked to meet at the Serengeti Outpost in Nairobi at least 15 minutes prior to their scheduled tour time.
The pricing and tour offerings remained the same into early 2020. Following the park’s extended closure due to COVID-19 concerns, the Sloth Encounter returned to the tour lineup in late September 2020. While still allowing up-close time with a sloth, the tour no longer guaranteed direct contact.
As of January 2021, the tour was available at noon and 3:30 p.m. each day the park was open through the end of February. The price was $69.99 per person on Saturdays, and $59.99 per person on other days of the week. Pass member discounts of up to 20% applied to the 30-minute experience. The tour was open to guests age eight and above, with a maximum of six guests per tour to allow for physical distancing.
